FAMILY STORIES IN QUILTS

Session 1 9:30am cost

Lyn shows ways of
preserving family stories in quilts and fabrics. She will show how she has told
her grandmother’s story in fabric pictures and how other details are recorded
on a Family Tree, and on Friendship and Commemorative quilts. Participants will
be involved in the making of a Friendship quilt. This will require no previous
knowledge of quilting or sewing.
Lunch served at 12pm cost$10 from Kristin’s Kitchen

Lyn tells of her
grandmother Maggie Kelly Kane’ s story in items brought to Australia in a
Saratoga trunk in 1901, when she sailed
from Ireland on a Bride Ship. This will be followed by the screening of Lyn’s
documentary film of Maggie’s Journey. An invitation will then be extended to
the audience to share their family stories.
